Have books you want to donate? This is a great source, from one of our friends...

Hi, all. I was dropping off some books at Books for America yesterday
(1417 --22nd Street NW, almost at the corner of 22nd and P, near Soho
Cafe) and the person taking my donation said they were "desperate" for
childrens' books, to help rebuild the library at Takoma Park
Elementary School that was destroyed in a fire late last year.
You can drop off your donations, which are 100 percent tax-deductible,
at Books for America,or they will pick up from your home! Call them at 202-835-2665.

Sonja

By lil omm , 1:27 PM

Sonja Kubota Johansson first encountered yoga and felt as if she were re-united with an old friend who reminded her of the true meaning of life. Since then, a committed practice has helped her work through both emotional and physical pain and has also encouraged her to nurture qualities of compassion, gratefulness, and peace within herself. In the summer of 2009, Sonja traveled to India to study at Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Dhanwantari Ashram. She then completed her first 200-hour teacher training in Washington, DC and her second training with Max Strom in August 2010. As a teacher, Sonja hopes to provide students with a safe opportunity to explore themselves, and to support their discoveries. She emphasizes yoga as a physical, emotional and spiritually healing practice in a unifying, non-dogmatic way. Her classes are structured in a vinyasa flow style with emphasis on breath, alignment and breath-movement coordination.

Teaching at Lil Omm:

Since I've begun teaching at lil omm, I often forget how young the studio is. The community of families has so quickly become a family itself, it seems that the studio must have been around for years already. As a teacher, it is truly an honor and a thrill to be welcomed into this community with such open hearts and I hope I can provide the same for newcomers, students and teachers alike. There is something really special about the student body of lil omm that allows for so much growth, compassion and patience for each other (and each other's little ones!) and perhaps even more impressively, for one self. It is a gift of joy to work with such dedicated students and an even greater gift to work with lovely, wonderful people.

LEAN course

By lil omm , 5:55 PM

LEAN is Back!

Back by popular demand, a new LEAN class is forming now!

LEAN (Learn Eating Awareness and Nutrition) is an 8-week lifestyle weight management program designed to help you achieve a balanced body and a balanced mind. Taught by a dietitian and a personal trainer, it is based on a very positive, empowering approach to health. Using behavior and cognitive modification, clients discover how to take the power out of food and get off the diet cycle for life. LEAN will also teach you how to be a positive role model for your children.

One meeting a week for 8 weeks will give you the tools you need to make positive healthy changes in your life. The base LEAN program is only $200 and includes the 8-week group counseling program, the LEAN Mommy program book with Food Diary and individual help with achieving your personal health goals.

And, to help you meet your goals, you can add one or more of these options to your LEAN program for a discounted price:

-- Eight weeks of unlimited Stroller Strides classes (valid only during the LEAN session)
-- One-on-one nutrition counseling sessions
-- One-on-one personal training sessions

We will work with you to create an individual LEAN program that will help you make the most out of your LEAN experience. Contact Jen Middleton for more information and pricing on each of these options.

The next class will start in January and is forming now. Feel free to tell friends about this program - it is open to everyone, not just moms! Contact Jen for more information and to register jenmiddleton@strollerstrides.net.
